📂 Open Your File
Click to open or drag-and-drop your image (JPG, PNG, WebP) or PDF into the Privacy Eraser. The file is loaded directly into your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.
⬛ Draw Redaction Boxes
Select the black redaction tool and drag over any sensitive areas: ID numbers, detailed addresses, account numbers, signatures, and faces. Use a generous margin — small text can remain inferable through weak pixelation, so solid opaque black is the safest choice.
📄 Navigate PDF Pages
For multi-page PDFs, use the numbered page controls to switch between pages. The redaction count per page is shown at the top so you can track your progress and ensure no page is missed.
🔍 Review Before Saving
Zoom in and confirm no character edges remain visible under the redaction boxes. Use the Undo or Clear Page controls to fix mistakes. Also verify that required visible details (issuer name, document title) are not accidentally covered.
💾 Export the Safe Copy
Click Save. Images are rebuilt as new PNG files from scratch. PDFs are flattened into a new PDF — redaction shapes are burned into the page, not stored as removable objects. GPS, capture date, and camera EXIF metadata are stripped automatically.
💡 Tips & FAQ
- Why use solid black instead of blurring? Pixelation and blurring can be partially reversed with image-enhancement techniques. A solid opaque black box is irreversible and legally compliant.
- Is EXIF metadata removed? Yes. GPS coordinates, capture date, camera model, and other EXIF fields are not copied into the exported file.
- Can I redact PDFs with many pages? Yes — multi-page PDFs are fully supported. Work through each page using the page navigator and always inspect the final file before submitting.
- What file formats are supported? Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF. Output: PNG (for images), PDF (for PDFs).
